After an initial break in period, the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 should settle in as an extremely comfortable and nice fitting stability running shoe. The GuideRails system helps a run feel supported and balanced while clocking miles.
Not made for trails or snow, the GTS 19 should do just fine on the surfaces it was intended for — roads.
Moderate wear can show up under 100 miles of use, but the shoe holds up well for the price point and should stay comfortable for a long time.
The Glycerin GTS 19 uses a “GuideRails” side railing system to help support and balance the feet while running. This is well done as runners report enjoying the stability without it being distracting. The GuideRails engage with the running stride.
Reviews on mixed on the breathability of the GTS. Some runners find it to breathe well enough while others find it runs warm and doesn’t vent well enough.
Nothing overly bold in the style department, a nice looking shoe suitable for most outfit combinations!
Reviews are mixed on the responsiveness of the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19. It’s a stability shoe with a cushy sole, so the main features are support and comfort. Cushiness and guide rails don’t lend to maximum flexibility and pep. Still, the heel to toe running transitions are smooth and energetic. For a straight-on road shoe, responsiveness may not be as important as something like a trail running shoe. This should roll nicely down the road or track.
The Brooks Glycerin outsole is designed for the road and does a good job. This is not a shoe intended for technical terrain or trails.
Soft “DNA Loft” foam midsoles are soft without feeling bulky or heavy and provide a smooth heel to toe running transition.
Dual layered air mesh material is flexible and sturdy, resulting in a comfortable feel. The GTS 19 uppers feel nicely conformed to a runner’s foot and offer a padded heel collar. Runners like to run long in this shoe since it is so comfortable and can help mitigate nagging pain.
A traditional lacing system combines nicely with the glove-like uppers and locks the foot down comfortable. Most runners say the heel is stable, there was a report mentioning a little heel slippage.
If you are looking for a good all-around road running workhorse, the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 is worth considering. It’s comfortable, smooth, and good value for the cost. Runners with flat feet or Plantar Fasciitis may find relief with this shoe as well.
